Collaboration: Huriah x Bikeworks

At Huriah our relationship with Bikeworks started in 2019 when Saif was introduced to the Co-Founders, Jim and Zoe, through Social Ark - an incredible charity that supports young social entrepreneurs. The creativity started to flow and the idea of collaborating with Huriah to designed T-shirts for the Bikeworks Inclusive Cycling Conference took shape. Just as the plans were coming together the coronavirus outbreak stopped it, however, it didn't deter us for one moment in making the collaboration happen.

As of lockdown Bikeworks spent tireless hours adapting their whole business model to support the many communities across London. The social enterprise exists to provide inclusive cycling opportunities to all, all profits from across the social enterprise are reinvested into growing the free membership of their All Ability Clubs - providing 3,000 people with disabilities the opportunity to cycle for physical activity, for travel, and for fun. Offering bike repair workshops, corporate team building activities, employment programmes, and more. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Bikeworks transformed into an Emergency Cycle Delivery Service delivering essential items, including food, medicines, and NHS Health Testing Kits to those shielding and most vulnerable residents, where social services and the NHS could not reach - in just 10 weeks this amounted to10,000 deliveries!

We were delighted when the idea to create special edition T-Shirts for the delivery cyclists to wear was requested. At Huriah we are so proud to have been a part of such impactful work, and to know that our t-shirts have been worn with pride during this unprecedented time. For us being a partner with an organisation who holds strong to their values as we do to ours, is a true ethical collaboration. We particularly loved coming up with the T-Shirt design that uses the hands joining-together to represent the human support provided by the wheels of a bicycle, making the Bikeworks team more visible when out on the roads, or working in the food banks.
